If you’re ever in Hong Kong and happen to be there for a toy hunting spree, Causeway Bay is one destination you should include in your itinerary. Causeway Bay is on the Hong Kong island and is reachable by subway (or MTR, as it is more commonly known in Hong Kong).

One of the best places to hunt for toys there is a shop called TOYZONE. TOYZONE is both a toy store and a flea market – which means they do retail and wholesale as well as selling of consigned goods. The shop is truly a one-stop toy shop covering all types of toys – Japanese or American, vintage or modern, high-end or mass-market – if it’s a toy you’ve been looking for, TOYZONE is worth checking out.

TOYZONE is literally stacked to the ceiling with toys (as some of the photos below will indicate). Unlike places like TRU which cater mostly to children, or some other specialty shop that focus mainly on Japanese collectibles, TOYZONE is truly for collectors of all shapes and sizes. The stuff they carry span different generations. I have seen toys there that date back to as far as the 1970’s and yet, they also have some of the more recently released items.

I’d also like to mention that the sales people behind TOYZONE are very friendly. When asked about giving discounts, they politely explained that some items may still be discounted while some bear fixed prices (such as consigned items). They also made no issue about me taking photos of the their place and their goods (which is quite the opposite of what I experienced with some other toy shops).

TOYZONE is located at the 16th floor of Causeway Bay Commercial Building, No. 3 Sugar Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Here is a photo of the building entrance:

Please note that TOYZONE has 2 shops on the 16th floor, one in Room 1601 and the other in Room 1602. They refer to the other shop as TOYZONE PLUS (TOYS OUTLET) – which, from what I understand, focuses more on wholesale selling. But they are owned and operated by the same folks and both shops are conveniently located on the same floor. The shops open daily from 12:00 noon till 9:00 PM.

SOGO Department Store – check out the Toys Department on the 6th floor (take MTR Exit D).

TOYS R US – located at the 3rd floor of Windsor House (take MTR Exit E).
