Sometime late last year, Grundy showed me a custom Black Adam he was working on. It was a commissioned job and was done in the JLU animated style. Somehow, the client backed out from the deal late in the game. That may seem unfortunate, but not for me. I quickly saw an opportunity and asked Grundy if he would be open to selling me the piece as soon as it was done. Well, not only did he agree to it but even offered to make a Captain Marvel and a Mary Marvel to boot. Needless to say, it was a marvelous turn of events for me.

So now, I proudly present to you the latest addition to my personal JLU action figure collection – Grundy’s custom Marvel Family 3-pack.

Mary Marvel was made from a Huntress body. Her head is Wonder Woman’s. Her cape and hair were also from Huntress. The rest of the add-ons were sculpted using Apoxie.

Black Adam used Atom Smasher’s body and a heavily modified Sinestro head (the jaw was buffed and squared to make him look more regal and menacing at the same time). The sash, arm bands and boot cuffs were sculpted on with Apoxie.

Captain Marvel here was made from a JL Superman with the hair line re-sculpted. Supe’s jaw was rounded and the cheekbones were sanded down. Similar to Black Adam, the sash, vest, bracelets and boot cuffs were sculpted using Apoxie.
