Grundy's Customs - Lobo

This custom took me 3 years to complete, from start to finish. Now I know what you are thinking, "it doesn’t look like it takes that long to finish that custom". But it did.

Lobo got me started with customizing to begin with. When I saw him in STAS a long time ago, I knew I had to own a figure of him.

About three years ago...

He's my first head sculpt. It was real challenge sculpting him coz I didn’t know how to translate his features to 3D back then, his face alone took me three tries.

The next hurdle was the hair! I almost gave up on him but after 5 tries he turned out okay.

His head was finished in about a month of planning and re-sculpting, but I couldn’t find a good enough base for his body.

I forgot all about him till about a few months ago, I saw my old Lobo head sculpt while I was looking for a head in my fodder box for Amazo.

I grabbed an Extra JL Darkseid and started on him once more.

Here he is with the old hair sculpt I did for him. I had to re-do the hair coz it wasn’t big enough.

I used Mission Vision Darkseid body and legs. I re-positioned his arms so that his arms would no longer swivel diagonally (ala Darkseid) but Vertically. I shortened the legs a bit to make the body look bigger.

I used the Batman Beyond villain Happy for the base of the arms; a lot of sculpting had to be done to bulk em up.

I sculpted the skull on his belt (as well as all the other accessories) with Apoxie; the spikes are from the Ultra-Humanite fig I used to make Kalibak from.

Prime, painted and sealed.

Scale comparison:

I’m glad that I finally finished him; it was real fun re-visiting my customizing roots.
