About a couple of years ago, someone showed me a to-scale Grey Amazo custom by DoubleDealer (I think it was for the CustomCon?) It was soo rad! He used a big bootleg Superman as a base and I've been thinking of doing one for my own ever since. After taking what seemed ages of mustering the courage to try something that DD has already done, I scoured around to find a bootleg Superman to no avail. But I found a bootleg Batman instead and tried to make it work. First off, the company that made the bootleg fig that I got kinda screwed-up while making the fig. Batman's arms were too rounded (as opposed to the angular shape of JLU’s) and were just weird looking. I shaved parts of the base and sculpted apoxie on top of the fig, fixing the arms and making the Torso a lot more square-ish. Now Batman's head was just plain useless to make as a base for Amazo, so I ended up sculpting his head from scratch (again, apoxie), using the tiny retail Amazo fig I owned as basis. Prime, Paint, Seal and I'm done :-) Here's AMAZO with the actual toy for scale comparison |
He can also double as an Oscar Awards trophy. I double checked the cartoons; Amazo seems to be close enough to scale for me :-) |
